The Story of Lamont Carter & Charnise Calhoun Carter
Cancer... We were both only in our 30's when diagnosed. Isn't that a bit young? Well the truth is, it's not. Cancer does not discriminate. Anyone can be diagnosed with cancer at any given time, and that is just the way it is. At age 37 years old, I was diagnosed with Salivary Gland Cancer and my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer (DCIS) at the age of 35.
In April of 2008 I had a parotidectecmy which consist of having a malignant tumor from my left parotid gland removed. After surgery, I was told by my doctor that surgery was successful and that there were no traces of cancer left, therefore it would not be necessary for me to receive any chemotherapy or radiation. Not needing any chemo or radiation was the best news I heard in a long time! At least this is what I thought at the time.
In January of 2010, after suffering from severe pain in my left hip, I went to the hospital to only find out that I had Metastatic Salivary Gland Cancer. I was devastated! I just knew my life was over. What did I do to deserve this? Why me? But the truth is, why not me. After spending days of feeling hopeless and angry at God, I knew that if I wanted to have a fighting chance, then it was time for me to make some decisions about how I was going to fight back.
Although time was of the essence, I knew that it was necessary to make sure that my family and I choose the right treatment plan for me. After lots of prayer, much research and conversations with doctors, I decided against conventional treatment (chemotherapy and radiation) and decided to go to Tijuana, Mexico to take a more natural healing approach and receive alternative treatment. My wife and I left for Tijuana in February 2010 and stayed there for an entire month. We learned so much about the healing of the body, mind and soul as a whole. Healing definitely starts within. For starters, you must first believe that you will be healed. You also have to cleanse yourself from toxins and start putting the "good stuff" in your body, so that means changing your diet. Cancer cannot survive in an alkaline body filled with oxygen, so the key is to oxygenize the body to kill off cancer cells.
Just when my wife and I thought things could not get any worse, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (DCIS) in September 2010. How could this be? Both of us with cancer? But you know what, we both continued to stand strong and trust and believe in GOD. My wife's cancer was considered curable with surgery. She now not only has to fight for me, but for herself as well.
We both continued to fight this battle with a major lifestyle change by incorporating alternative medicine and therapy into our lives (i.e. juicing, eating organic foods, taking supplements & herbals, utilizing ozone and vitamin C therapy, yoga, meditation, exercise etc). Alternative medicine can be very expensive but how can you put a price tag on life. It is our goal to help educate and provide support to others so that they too can have an opportunity to experience healing of the mind body and soul, especially where conventional medicine has failed.
Although God has called me home to continue his mission in heaven, we as God’s children must continue his mission here on earth. My wife and I started Juice 4 Life, Inc, a non-profit which provides alternative and integrative cancer support and education. If you or anyone you know would like to make a donation to "OUR MISSION", just know that your generosity will not be in vain. Now that I know what God’s purpose was for me, I ask all of you to humbly donate to Juice 4 Life’s mission in helping us save more lives.
